Danny Lee Thomas, 72, of Washington, passed away at 3:25 PM on Thursday Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh. He was born on October 21, 1940 to Ellen (Veale) Padgett. He graduated from Jasper High school in 1958. He attended University of Kentucky at Hopkinsville. He retired from the Army after over 20 years of service. When he was in the army he had received three Army Service Commendation Medal. Also will in the service he served as a chauffeur for President John F. Kennedy. He was a member of the Washington American Legion and was of the proutescent faith He is survived by his wife Naomi ( May ) Thomas whom he married on February 22,1991 ,3 Sons , Kerry Thomas of Francisco , Darren ( Kelly) Thomas of Francisco ,Tray (Peggy) Williams of Washington , 2 daughters, Lynn (Greg) Singer of Evansville, Rene (Steve) Veale of Washington; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren and his aunt and uncle, Robert and Joyce Veale. He is preceded in death by his mother and step father, Ellen (Veale) and Bill Padgett. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 am at Ed Lee Mortuary with Pastor Brent Welch officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery with Military graveside rights conducted by the Washington American Legion. "I am Patsy Thomas's Daughter. I am so sorry for your loss. Danny was my Step Father for many years. He was a wonderful husband to my Mother and a very caring Step Father to my brother John And I. We loved him and will always remember how sweet and kind he was to all of us. The children of Patsy were happy for him when he moved to Indiana after he retired. We will never forget his kindness and love. My three daughters called him Grandpa Danny. We will miss you Danny. Thank you for all you did for us and our Mother Patsy Thomas.
