Jean Showalter

Catherine R. "Jean" Showalter, age 73 of Washington passed away at 7:33 a.m. Saturday at Jasper Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. She was born July 31, 1936 in Washington to Coy Joseph and Irene (Craddock) Palmer. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and a 1954 Graduate of Washington Catholic High School. She had been a telephone operator for Indiana Bell and retired from the Washington Township Trustee's Office as a chief investigator. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and camping with her many friends. She is survived by her husband Pete Showalter whom she married October 6, 1956; two daughters and son in-law, Vicki and Greg Guy, and Michele and Tim Guy all of Washington; three sons and daughters in-law, Joseph Leon Showalter, Rick Showalter, Kenneth Gene and Amy Showalter, and Helen Massie all of Washington; eleven grandchildren, Brittany Chestnut, Alisha Showalter, Pamela Freeman, Derrick Devine, Amber Showalter Mackenzie Showalter, Shelby Guy, Logan Guy, Tyler Guy, Gregory Guy, and Emily Guy; six great grandchildren; and one sister Marjorie Wampler of Greenfield, In; She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mark Anthony Showalter; one granddaughter, Andrea Boes; three sisters, Helen Haskins, Wilma O'Brian, and Theresa O'Brian; and four brothers, Tom Palmer, Martin Palmer, Donald Palmer, and Dan Palmer. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father James Koressel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 4 p.m. Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society 6301 Old Boonville Highway Suite B, Evansville, Indiana 47715 Condolences may be sent online at www.edleemortuary.com.
