Mary Eleanor (Gaines) Purdue, age 72 went home to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, November 28, 2013, at 5:45 PM at East Gate Manor Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 16, 1941 in Daviess County to Samuel Alvin and Helen (Downey) Gaines. She attended Washington High School. She was retired from Washington Nursing Center where she worked for 27 years. She had previously worked for Sherwood Plastics, Armour Foods, and Jasper Novelty. She had a special talent of embroidering. She loved to share that gift by making things for her loved ones. She loved working in the flower garden and enjoyed God''s gift of the beautiful outdoors. She also loved the special times that she spent with her sisters and daughter. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Jack Purdue whom she married on October 3, 1959; a daughter, Teresa Mae(Thomas) Radcliffe of Washington; a son, Jack Joe (Melody) Purdue of Washington; sister, Judith Ann Woody of Shoals, Gwendolyn Suzzetta (Keith) Graber of Loogootee, Gale Darlene (Rick) Adams of Spencer, and Tonja Jean (Scott) Fields of Bedford; brothers, Robert Eugene (Ellen0 Gaines od Downey, California, and Terry Michael (Donna) Gaines of Cumback; six grandchildren; and 15 Great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10 AM on Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Pastor Pat Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary and on Monday from 9 AM till service time.
