Veronica A. "Bonnie" Tennis

Veronica Agnes “Bonnie” Tennis, age 80, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.


 


Bonnie was born April 11, 1940, in Loogootee to John E. and Mary B. (Kavanaugh) Mattingly. She graduated from Montgomery High School in 1958. Much of her life was spent raising her children and working beside her husband on the family farm. She also worked at Purdue Processing Plant and retired from Master Brand Cabinetry. Bonnie was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She loved working crossword puzzles, flowers and gardening. Veronica loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.


 


She is survived by a son, Brian Tennis of Washington; three daughters, Nancy (Kurt) Kahl of Terre Haute, Denise Waynescott of Washington and Paula Clark of Terre Haute; one brother, Timothy (Eleanor) Mattingly of Montgomery; three sisters, Patricia Tow of Fishers, Alberta Turner of Indianapolis and Rita Elliott of Loogootee; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


 


Preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Tennis who she married June 3, 1961; her parents; two daughters Lisa Ann Tennis and Francis Agnes Tennis; six brothers Norbert Mattingly, John Mattingly, Gerald Mattingly, Francis “Frank” Mattingly, James “Pete” Mattingly and Joe Mattingly; three sisters Mary Alma Melton, Beatrice Sheets and Doris “Jean” Ellis and son-in-law Larry Waynescott.


 


Visitation will be Monday, June 15, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Hope. Burial will be at a later date. Social distancing will be followed.

"I will always remember spending the night and what a wonderful cook and sweet lady she was. I remember her giving me a runt pig and me begging mom to let me have it. Needless to say she didnt. Being on the farm with her family will always be some of my fondest memories"
