Lewis Melvin Chanley, age 77 of Washington went home to be with his Lord on July 14, 2015. He passed from this life surrounded by the love of his life of 57 years, wife, Shirley (Moffett) Chanley, son, Danny Chanley of Washington, daughter Donna (Gary) Edmiston of Washington, granddaughter, Amy (Kevin) Wright of Tennessee, grandson, Daniel Chanley of Vincennes and two great-grandsons. He was born in Velpen, Indiana on July 26, 1937 to James & Ruby (Adams) Chanley, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by three sisters; Janet (Ed) Rogers of Utah, Judy Weitkamp of Stendal, Barb (Steve) Byrd of Wheatland, and a brother, Joe (Loretta) Chanley of Petersburg and several nieces and nephews. At the time of his death, he was employed at Boyd Grain as their maintenance man. Prior to that he was owner and president of Chanley Builders until 2002. He attended Southwind Wesleyan Church. Celebration of Life service will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Southwind Wesleyan Church at 1782 Troy Road in Washington with Brad Rainey, Phil Kessen and Danny Chanley officiating. Interment will follow at New Veale Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 - 8 pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, 230 W.
