Margaret T. Wichman
February 20, 1928 - February 20, 2007

Margaret T. Wichman, 79, Washington, passed away at 7:19 p.m. Tuesday at Washington Nursing Center. She was born December 16, 1927 in Hammond, Indiana, to the late Cletus J. and Theresa (Kuntz) Montgomery. She attended St. Peter's School and graduated from Montgomery High School. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she served as the director-organist for 35 years and a charter member of the parish council. She received the Brute Society Medal, was a licensed private pilot, member of Right to Life, Get Together Homemakers, Daviess County Art League, Northwest Territories Art Guild, and the National Pastoral Musicians. She had been a member of the Catholic schools board and was co-writer of the constitution of the combined parish schools plan. Survivors are three sons, Anthony "Tony" D. Wichman, Washington, Henry J. Wichman, Ellettsville, and Francis L. Wichman, Lynnwood, WA; two daughters, Theresa A. Canaday, Dallas, TX, and Susan J Wichman, Bardstown, KY; a brother, James E. Montgomery, Seattle, WA; six grandchildren, Ryan J. Wichman, Craig M. Wichman, Erin M. Lane, Abby M. Wichman, Sean E. Canaday, and Nathaniel S. Wichman; and one great-grandson, Noah M. Milleman. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Wichman, whom she married April 28, 1949 and he died December 19, 2002; brothers, John (Jack) and Joe Montgomery; sisters, Elizabeth R. O"Connor and twin sister, Jane M. Wooden; and infant children, Mary Margaret and Martin J. Wichman. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Church with a wake service at 4 p.m. Preferred memorials are to St. Mary Parish, Right to Life, and the Pregnancy Care Center.
