Gerald J. Waltz
September 7, 1921 - January 22, 2009

Gerald J. Waltz, age 87, of Washington, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Thursday at his residence. He was born September 7, 1921 in Daviess County to Charles H. and Addie (Abel) Waltz. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was a life long farmer. Surviving is his wife, Shirley (Emmick) Waltz whom he married March 4, 1946; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Pat Meade, Mary Joann and Leo Costello, and Elizabeth and Michael Graber all of Washington; one son, Michael Waltz of Watseka, Illinois; two sisters, Virgene Clinkenbeard and Margaret Morrison both of Washington; one brother Paul Waltz of Washington; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sons, Patrick H. Waltz and Charles E. Waltz; one sister, Patricia Funk; his parents, and a granddaughter, Brianna Waltz. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann and Father Jim Koressel as con-celebrant. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 4 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charity of the donor choice.
