Sharon L. Bybee
March 18, 1940 - March 3, 2016

Sharon L. Bybee, age 75, of Washington, passed away March 3, 2016 at 5:45 a.m. at Gibson County Hospital. She was born March 18, 1940 in Washington to Mary Eloise (McGuire) and William Arnold Greene. She accomplished many things in her life such as; she was a founding member of Senior and Family Services and was the director for over 35 years, nominated for Older Hoosier of the Year from the State of Indiana., recognized by the state of Indiana for her service to the CHOICE Board, served on numerous committees on local and state level to establish standards for adult day care and other home care services, and started one of the first ombudsman and adult day care programs in the state. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and her other family members. Surviving is daughter, Christine Patterson Wonder of FL, and a son, Clark (Jo Ellen) Patterson of Princeton, daughter, Lynda (Bybee) Mills, nine grandchildren; Nicole Patterson, Blair Patterson (Brian) Stinchfield, Jonas (Renee) Wonder, Chantel Wonder, Rebecca (Michael) Cox, Beckham Mills Jr., Angie Jordan, Alexis Maggard, Leslie Smith, ten great-grandchildren; Gia Wonder, Landyn Patterson, Justice Stinchfield, Jazlyn Robins, Brecklyn Robins, Rajen Spiker, Cattielee Spiker, Kaeleigh Fitzgerald, Jaydan Mills, Karter Stinchfield, sisters; Phyllis Ann Cox, Roberta Matthews, and Sandy Englehart all of Washington, brothers; Bill (Kathy) Greene of FL, Jim (Lynn) Greene of Washington. Preceding her in death was her husband, Joe Bybee Jr., whom she married January 4, 1986, passed away May 2, 2003, daughters; Anita Kay Patterson and Kathy Ann Bybee, son, Larry Joe Bybee, and brother-in-law, Jim Englehart. A mass of Christian burial will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Hope Catholic church with burial to follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 - 8 pm at the church. Wake service will be at 3:30 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Senior and Family Services, 211 E. Main Street, Washington, IN 47501.
