Don Clements

Don M. Clements age 61 of Washington passed away at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in Greene County. Born May 31, 1946 in Paoli, he was the son of Vance and Ruth (Marshall) Clements. He was a 1964 graduate of West Washington High School where he played baseball and basketball, attended Oakland City College on a baseball scholarship graduating in 1968, graduated from Indiana University, taught at Loogootee, Barr-Reeve, and Shoals coaching basketball and golf. In 1974 he became a State Farm agent and has owned and operated the State Farm Insurance agency since then. He was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church, the Washington Elks Lodge where he was a past exalted ruler, and the Glendale Masonic Lodge. He earned a certificate as a certified Life Underwriter and loved snow skiing, landscaping, cooking, walking, and attending all sporting events. Surviving is his wife, Judy (Mills) Clements whom he married August 17, 1968; one son, Michael Clements of Indianapolis; his mother, Ruth Clements of Loogootee; and a sister, Vanita Clements of Carmel. He is preceded in death by his father, Vance Clements. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 4 p.m. and a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Catholic Community of Washington at 315 North East Third Street Washington, Indiana 47501 and the United Way of Daviess County.
