George Washington
February 22, 1938 - April 30, 2011

George Washington Fox, age 73, of Washington passed away at 5:30PM on Saturday at Southwood Pulmonary Rehab Center in Terre Haute. He was born on February 22, 1938 in Vincennes to Sherman and Zettie (Hicks) Fox . He Was a U.S. Army Veteran, where he served 10 years. Upon his retirement he was a USDA food inspector for Perdue Processing Plant. He coached Little League Baseball for 10 years and enjoyed it tremendously. He made a rule in Washington that every player bats once and is in for three outs, which later became a rule for Little League. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie P. (Boizard) Fox; three daughters, Janet (Terry) Thomas, Zettie Fox, Adeline (DJ) Stoll; Son Allen Fox; eight grandchildren, Kevin O'Connor, Jennifer (Alan) Skomp, Ashlee (Matt) Bowlds, Todd Clark, Brandee Brown, Chelsee Brown, Marie-Gabrelle Craft, and Daizee Timberlake; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Ada (Finis) Stanley of Sullivan. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Joseph "Bear" Fox. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 Pm on Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary.
