"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family ? he was truly a wonderful man. We so enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner he shared with us a few years ago, arriving with candy and flowers for the hostess and lots of stories about the ?good old days?."

"We are so sorry to learn of the passing of Red. He was a genuine soul who cared so much about those around him. He made a strong impression on my husband, Scott, who grew up in the Lickskillet area. Scott often recounts the day that he met Red, Scott and Ross (Wood). He remembers riding his old bike around and seeing a tall man with a tiny boy wearing only a diaper on his shoulder (Ross). There was also another boy running around across the big field that was Red's yard(Scott). The man was walking along the road away from him. Scott Shoultz got close to them and waved, the man introduced himself and the baby. Red invited Scott to come play ball with them. Scott accepted and from that day on, he was always looking forward to all of the fun sports he could play with the neighborhood kids at Red and Margaret's house. Recently, we were able to go to Red's apartment and introduce him to our new son, Hayes. He was so happy that we stopped by. He even shuffled through some papers and found a letter that I had written to him months before. He had been reading it. He had me read it. I thought it was the sweetest thing in the world. We thoroughly enjoyed our chat that day and we will always cherish that moment we shared our little family with Red. Those precious moments of Scott's childhood on that small plot of land in the care of Red and Margaret and a few others from 'the village' truly shaped him into the person he is today. As Scott Shoultz's wife and Mother of his baby, I know what his inspirations are. I know where his memories take him in his current life. I know that Red was a very prominent figure in his young life. He will keep his vivid memories alive and pass on that gentle loving nature he learned from watching Red and Margaret onto his own children. Thank you, Red, for being genuinely you. Rest in Peace. Suzi, we love you and your family always."
