"John had the selfless devotion to the well being of others as his inviolable mission as senior industrial hygienist at Naval Weapons Support Center, Crane Indiana. I met him in 1985, as the Navy Medical Command at Great Lakes began to augment John's well-established Industrial Hygiene program at Crane. John's vision was to press Naval Hospital Great Lakes to assist him, and to keep his legacy programs going. My job was to make his request come true. He was a mentor with detailed insight to all occupational health risks, always taking time to educate, listen, empathize, and care deeply for others. Thousands of civilian workers have benefitted directly from John's oversight of occupational health risks. His legacy will never be forgotten. "I knew John since 1990 we worked together, he was a very dedicated professional. He was not a coworker, but a dear friend that became important family member. He attended my sons college graduation, their wedding and their first kids celebration. I was in touch with him continuously even after Fran his wife passed away. I shall always miss his company. Now he is resting in peace after all of his life journey of pain. Dr. Hassan Abdelkader"

"I worked for John for 8 years starting in 1981. He was smart, funny, and the hardest working person I have ever been around. He no doubt made the world a better place."

"I don't remember how many years I knew John while he worked at Crane, but it was several. He did a lot of work for the Army and this is where John and I worked together. I have nothing but great respect and fond memories of John. I am sorry for this loss. My prayers are with his family and friends."
