Alpha L. Beckett, 84, of Washington, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 in Washington.
Alpha was born on December 7, 1933 to Austin and Ermma (Crays) Beckett. Alpha graduated from Vincennes University. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had retired from Oakland City University. Then he went on to work for Ride Solutions and had retired from there after several years of employment. He was a former board member of the town of Cannelburg and former Cannelburg Fire Chief. He was an author of two books.
He is survived by one son, James “Chris” Beckett of Washington; seven grandchildren, Bryant McKown, Rebecca McKown, Tara Beckett, Heidi Wetzel, Tina Sue Nash, Christina Bruce and Allan Beckett; thirteen grandchildren
Alpha was preceded in death by his wife, Sue M. Beckett on July 8, 2011, whom he married November 7, 1953; parents; son, Clay A. Beckett; daughter, Lisa M. Howard; brothers, William Beckett, Wilber Beckett, Herbert Beckett and Leonard Beckett; sisters, Liddie Jordan and Joyce Beckett.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 20th at 10:00 a.m. at Ed Lee North Chapel, 620 East Viola Ave, Washington, IN 47501. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Montgomery. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Ed Lee North Chapel, 620 East Viola Ave,Wednesday, September 19, 2018.
