Max Eugene Stuffle 87, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully Friday morning at Bloomington Hospice. He was surrounded by love ones of his family. Max was born September 15, 1927 in Daviess County to Richard and Audrey (Greenwood) Stuffle. Max grew up around the farms of rural Daviess County and was a graduate of Epsom High School. He then served his country in the Korean War. He loved working with his hands and restoring antiques. Max opened a repair shop and antenna service in Loogootee for televisions, before moving to Bloomington. He was a long time employee of RCA before his retirement. Max loved to tell of his many adventures through life to all who would listen. He also cherished a good game of cards with family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed his time he spent with his family. Max was an avid member and supporter of the VFW, AMVETS and the American Legion. He also enjoyed reading about history, World leaders and Western stories. He was always on the look-out for antiques and collectibles of any kind. Most of all he treasured his relationships, good or bad. He will be missed and loved till the day we will all meet again! Max was married to his soulmate and best friend, Eleanor (Grove) Stuffle for 60 years. They were parents to four loving children; Max Edward Stuffle (Kathy) of Florida, Rene Harper (Jim) of Bloomfield, Mona Vuke (Tim) of Spencer, and Myrna Smith (Doug) of Bloomington. He was blessed with grandchildren; Brian Stuffle, Michelle Roberts (Tony), J.C. Harper (Brittany), Krissy Strahle (Josh), Lindsey Clark (Josh), Heidi Winders (John), Austin Vuke, Cheyenne Smith (Tyler) and Dakota Smith. With many great grandchildren, Max was a devoted family man and trusted friend. His family was his world, and one day they will all be together again. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Ed Lee Mortuary in Washington with burial to follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Condolences may be sent online at www.edleemortuary.com

"I worked with Max at RCA for several years. He was a mentor and a friend and I enjoyed my days working with. He always had a big smile and was more than willing to jump in on a prank. I know he will be missed the family and all who knew him. My thoughts are with you during this hard time. Scott Knapp"

I understand how it is to lose such an incredible influence like your father. Please feel free to look me up when you have time and are in town. "The last time I saw him was right before heading back to Florida after house closing. I looked at him and said, you look so good today, and with that grin he said .... well, maybe I'd better go look in the mirror again. He will be missed, but never forgotten."
