Paul Loyd, 85, Washington died at 4:45 AM on Tuesday at the Washington Nursing Center. Born December 21, 1920, in Washington, he was the son of Ollie and Iva (Small) Loyd. He was a graduate of Washington High School and a member of the Moose, Eagles, and the Country Club where he loved playing golf. He lived 73 years with Type 1 diabetes, which made him the second oldest person in the US with this form of diabetes. He is survived by two sons; James Michael Loyd, Indianapolis, Paul Terry Loyd, Washington, a step son; Dr John Gray, Jr., Washington, one grandson; James R. Loyd, Washington, one granddaughter; Terri Lynn Scott, Bedford, two great-granddaughters; Macie and McKinzie Loyd, Washington, two sisters; Eva Chastain and Rosemary Chapman both of Washington and one brother; Gordon Loyd, Washington. He married Mary (Castleman) Loyd on February 26, 1982, and she died December 3, 2004. A great-grandson, Trent Donald Loyd and a brother Donald Loyd and one sister, Betty Loyd also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM on Thursday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Father Gordon Mann officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
