Dorothy G. Burkhardt
December 1, 1919 - November 8, 2007

Dorothy Genevieve Burkhardt age 87 of Washington passed away Thursday at 8:10 AM at Washington Nursing Center. She was born in Knox County to Marvin and Anna (Tomley) Young. She attended Lincoln High School in Vincennes and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Ladies of the Moose, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the Eagles Auxiliary. Surviving are two daughters and sons in-law, Carol and Charles Petty of Jasper, Judy and John Olsen of Orlando, Florida, and ; one step daughter, Julia Anne Stiles of Kansas City, Missouri; six step sons, Randy Burkhardt of Washington, Paul Alan Burkhardt of Washington State, Raymond Burkhardt Lantana, Florida, Tim Burkhardt of California,Lawrence 'Larry' Burkhardt of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Andy Burkhardt of Shoals; 16 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; one great great grandson; one half sister, Aline Denny of Washington; two half brothers, Elmer Winkler of Vincennes and James Winkler of Washington; and two step sisters, Dora Colbert of Washington and Roberta Hopper of Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Michael Coleman in 1961; her second husband, William "Bill" Burkhardt in 2001; one daughter Nancy Jane Souper, her father, Marvin Young; her mother, Anna Winkler; one sister; two brothers; and two half brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at St, Mary Catholic Church with Father Leo Kiesel as celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.
