Mary M. Pride

Mary M. Pride. age 84, of Washington, passed away at 7:49 a.m. Monday at Eastgate Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 15, 1926 in Montgomery to John and Anna (O'Connor) Oberst. She was a 1945 graduate of Washington Catholic High School. She had worked for many years at Indiana Bell Telephone Co. as a phone operator and was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Lisa Litherland of Washington, and Lynn and Terry Buhr of Evansville; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Cheryl Pride of Bargersville; two sisters, Catherine Hill of Washington and Teresa Keller of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Pride, whom she married August 13, 1949, on January 18, 2002. One sister, Sister Mary Celeste Oberst; one brother, Julian Oberst; and one grandson are also deceased. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ed Lee Mortuary with a wake service at 3:30 pm.
