Jerome B. Seidel
December 21, 1934 - February 16, 2007

Jerome B. 'Jerry' Seidel Sr. age 72 of Washington passed away on Friday at 8:36 PM at Daviess Community Hospital. He was born on December 21, 1934 in Washington to the late John and Julia (Cullivan) Seidel. He was a 1953 Graduate of Washington Catholic High School and had attended Vincennes University. Will at Washington Catholic High School he was a 4 year starter and was the first basketball player to use the jump shot. Jerry was a avid Washington Catholic Basketball fan and was a US Army Veteran were he was a tank commander in the 3rd Armored Division. He was a member of St. Simon Catholic Church, Washington K of C, and Washington American Legion. He had retired from Res Car after 45 years of working in the railroad industry. Jerry had played Santa for WC Schools for several years. Surviving are his wife, Marilyn (Tolliver) Seidel whom he married on August 10, 1962; three sons and daughters in-law, Richard and Jane Seidel of Washington, Jerome B. Jr. and Lorna Seidel of Jasper, and Patrick Seidel of Washington; two daughters and son in-law, Sonya Morley of Fort Wayne and Angela and Jack Ashby of Washington; one brother Carl Seidel of Washington; 14 grandchildren, Robert Davis of Washington, Sarah Morley of Florida, Amy Casselman of Fort Wayne, Amy Seidel of Vincennes, Julie Seidel of Jasper, Michael Seidel of Washington, Dylan Seidel of Washington, Jarrett Seidel of Jasper, Tyler Seidel of Washington, Katie Seidel of Washington, Madison Seidel of Washington, Brayton Ashby of Washington, Hannah Ashby of Washington, and Kyle Ashby of Washington; and one great granddaughter Faith Casselman. He was preceded in death by one grand son, Aaron Morley; four brothers and five sisters A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wedneday at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM at St. Simon Catholic Church on Tuesday with a wake service at 4 pm.
