Robert E. Burris
August 13, 1921 - October 10, 2014

Robert E. Bob'' Burris, age 93, of Washington, passed away at 7:55 AM on Friday at his home. He was born on August 13, 1921 in Washington to Lowell and Elma (Hitch) Burris. He attended Washington High School and was a World War II Army Veteran serving 3 years in the European Theare. He began his employment with the B and O Railroad and finished his employment years as Superintendent ot the Washington City Light and Power Plant. He was a member of Washington First Christian church. He loved and enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He spent many years camping, fishing, and building things in his workshop for friends and family. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife Rose Mary (Naylor) Burris who m he married on October 12, 1946 : one daughter , Karen Lynn (Tom) Martin of Columbus; one son, Michael Lee (Beth) Burris of Washington; 3 grandchildren , Brian Martin and Shannon Martin both of Columbus, Lori Burris-Glasgow of Katy Texas; 3 great grandchildren, Michael Martin and Aaron Martin both of Columbus, and Braten Glasgow of Katy Texas; and on brother, James (Susie) Burris of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles Burris and Richard "Dickie" Burris; three sister, Lucille Grannan , Margie Brothers, and Barbara Cassiday Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM on Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Rev. Byron Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and VFW.
