Catherine "Eloise" Murphy age 86 of Montgomery passed away on Friday October 5, 2007 at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born on January 26, 1921 in Daviess County to Patrick and Lillian (Mattingly) Lannan. She was a 1939 Graduate Montgomery High School, and a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter's Alter Society and the Legion of Mary. She was a retired postal clerk having worked in Montgomery and Loogootee Post Offices. She also was a retired Wal-Mart employee. Surviving are seven daughters and two sons, Ann Cermack of Charlotte, N.C., Jean Simpson of East Haddam, Ct., Mary Murphy of Cincinnati, Ohio. Janice Spencer of Indianapolis, Thomas Murphy of Ireland, Donna Parsons of Atlanta Ga., Marita Lett of Otwell, Denise Tuggle of Washington, and John 'Jack' Murphy of Montgomery; daughter in-law Judeanne Murphy of Montgomery; 17 grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 30 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Husband Leonard Murphy on June 12, 1996, whom she had married on November 21, 1940; one son Dennis Murphy on November 17, 2003; two grandchildren, Annaliese Spencer and Phillip Murphy; and one sister, Alberta Zinkan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Montgomery with Father James Koressel and Father Lowell Will as con-celebrants. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 3 to 8 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary with a rosary at 7:00 PM.
