William "Bill" McAtee

William E. “Bill” McAtee age 80, of Washington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Eastgate Manor in Washington.


 


Bill was born August 1, 1939 in Washington to William “Tinker” and Helena (Mangin) McAtee. Bill was a 1957 graduate of Montgomery High School. He joined the army in 1959, serving while stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia. After 2 years of service, Bill returned to Washington and spent his life serving his community, working for the State Highway Office in Vincennes, Indiana, delivering mail for many years for the Washington Post Office and working for the City of Washington. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing. He dedicated many years to the Washington Little League and supported the local sporting community as the owner of Mac’s Archery Shop.


 


He is survived by three sons Craig (Leanne) McAtee of Carthage, Missouri, Michael L. (Kim) McAtee and Randall J. McAtee both of Washington; sister Darlene Rogers of Wildwood, Missouri; brother Daniel (Pam) McAtee of Washington; nine grandchildren Colton, Garrett, Kate, Stanton, Bousche, Jan Michael, Claire, Jeffrey and Andrew and eight great-grandchildren Kayden, Bentley, Hunter, Harlyn, Havenn, Hudson, Hugh and Noah.


 


Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn “Sue” McAtee and his parents.


 


Visitation will be Friday, June 5, 2020 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel. Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm. Followed by celebrating A Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 pm at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Sudhakar Bhastati as celebrant.  Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. The funeral mass will also be available via Facebook for those unable to attend. Social distancing will be followed.
