Joyce L. Evans, 83, passed away at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington on August 7, 2017 at 5:53 a.m. She was born in Sidney, Illinois on December 19, 1933 to Lola (Renolds) and Virgal McCracken. She had attended Washington High School and had worked for the White Steamer Restaurant for over 35 years. She was a member of Veale Creek Baptist Church and the Washington Saddle Club. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 414 Ladies Auxiliary, joining in 1997 and was Madam President from 2002-2003.
She is survived by three sons, Michael McCracken of Washington, Tomas J. (Shannon) Evans of Washington and John E. Evans of Washington; two daughters, Bev Miles of Washington and Diana Evans of West Palm Beach, Florida; brother, JR (Sandy) McCracken of Washington; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Helen Evans of Washington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Joseph Evans on April 28, 1995, whom she married May 12, 1956; stepson, Bobby G. Evans and brother, Curtis McCracken; sisters, Bernice Oldfield, Doris Dyer and Lois Dyer; granddaughter, Ashley Evans.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Ed Lee Mortuary with Rev. Jack and Kay Godfrey officiating. Burial will follow in New Veale Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service by the Eagles 414 Ladies Auxiliary at 6:00 p.m.Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.edleemortuary.com
