O. Cooper Miller

O. Cooper Miller age 82 of Homosassa, Florida passed away on December 12 AT 12:25 PM at Seven Rivers Hospital in Crystal River, Florida after being ill sense December 4 and seriously ill sense December 10. He was born in Petersburg on December 16, 1924 to Otis E. and Helen V. (Edwards) Miller. He attended school in Winslow and Oakland City and was a 1942 Graduate of Oakland City High School. He also graduated from Purdue University in 1950 with a Civil Engineering Degree. He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1945 were he served aboard the USS-LSM in 1945. Being an avid outdoorsman all his life, after retiring from NSWC Crane in 1978 he spent much more time fishing and boating Cooper was a member of the USS-LSM-LSMR Association, American Legion, Elks Club, Ducks Unlimited, and Indiana Professional Engineers. Surviving are his wife Elaine (Pace) Miller whom he married on November 13, 1964; one son, Brian Miller; three daughters and sons in-law, Ann and Carl Riker Canton, Georgia, Margaret Hoxie of San Rafael, California, and Kelli and Glenn Granade of Melrose, Florida; eight grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Miller; and one sister, Jean Laidlaw. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 12, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Ed Lee Mortuary with Rev. J. Michael Laidlaw officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Petersburg. Visitation will be on January 12 from one till the hour of services ant Ed Lee Mortuary.
