Richard Lytton

Richard "Dick" Lytton age 79 of Washington passed away Tuesday at 9:06 pm at Daviess Community Hospital. Born November 11, 1927 in Flora, Illinois he was the son of the late Earl and Edna (Lents) Lytton. He was a 1945 graduate of Flora High School, a WWII Army veteran having served in Tokyo, Japan as a sergeant in the Corps of Engineers, a member of the Washington American Legion and VFW, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked for CSX Railroad for 43 years retiring in 1990 and was a union representative for the United Transportation Union Local 302. Surviving is his wife, Carol (Lascody) Lytton, whom he married October 9, 1954 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield, Illinois by Monsignor A. J. Bertman; one son, Keith Lytton of Fort Wayne; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Don Arvin of Evansville and Stephanie and Greg Deaves of Washington; three sisters, Lora Bailey of Alton, Illinois, Linda Uchitjil of Salem, Illinois, and Ella Mae Dixon of Franklin; and four grandchildren, Matthew Arvin of Evansville, Lauryn and Courtney Lytton both of Vincennes, and Michael Deaves of Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dale Lytton. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Simon Catholic Church with Father William Traylor and Father Lowell Will as con-celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Simon with a wake service at 4 p.m. and the K of C rosary at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Washington Catholic Endowment Fund.
