James A. Overton
November 16, 1923 - May 22, 2009

James Overton, age 85, of Odon, passed away on Friday at 9:53 PM at Daviess Community Hospital. He was born on November 16, 1923 in Daviess County to Alonzo and Effie (Flinn) Overton. He had attended Odon schools, was a US Army Veteran, and was a retired self employed farmer. He was a member of the Frady Memorial United Methodist Church where he served as a past Sunday School Superintendent. He is survived by his wife Camilla 'Millie" (Beasley) Overton whom he married on October 26, 1960; four sisters, Maxine Hulse of California, Naomi Hoover of Arizona, Mary Holland of Odon, and Patty Hinkle of Washington; two brothers, Keith Overton of Peru, Indiana, and Carl of Indianapolis; two nieces that had lived with him, Alice Ann Simmons of Plainville and Cathern Nellist of Elkhart; grand nephews, Matthew Simmons of Bloomfield, Brian Simmons of Monroe City, Bradley Nellist of Greenwood, Michael Nellist of Elkhart; and several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Howard Lee Overton; one sister Ruth Barnett. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at Frady Memorial United Methodist Church in Raglesville with Pastor Bill Talbott officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Church and from 9 to service time on Wednesday at the Church.
