Helen (Colvin) Gootee
September 10, 1919 - March 22, 2014

Helen R. Gootee, age 94 of Montgomery, passed away at 9:34 AM on Saturday at Washington Nursing Center. She was born on September 10, 1919 in Corning to Charles L. and Agatha A. (Fields) McDonald. She attended Reeve Township Schools and St. Mary of the Woods High School. She worked as a cook for Barr-Reeve Schools for 22 years. She love to cook and especial baking pies before she became ill. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter Alter Society, She is survived by one daughter and son in-law, Ruth and Leo Barley of Cannelburg; son in-law, Don Mattingly of Loogootee; six grandchildren, Chris Clark, Debbie Barley, Leo Barley Jr., Mike Mattingly, Diana Beckman, and Kim Downs; 13 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren She was preceded in in death by her first husband, John Colvin on April 3, 1978; her second husband, Edward Gootee on January 20, 1991; one son Michael Colvin; one daughter, Nancy Mattingly; two sisters, Mildred Brothers and Irene Harden; one brother, Joe McDonald. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father James Koressel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
