Delta Mattingly
November 16, 1913 - August 16, 2011

Delta M. Mattingly, age 97, of Washington, passed away at 4:27 p.m. Tuesday at Hillside Manor Nursing Home. She was born November 16, 1913 in Pike County to Simon and Hattie Jane (McCellan) Reed. She was a 1931 graduate of Winslow High School and a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. She had worked at Reliance Manufacturing, US Rubber Plant and Perdue Processing Plant. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Kay and Walt Miller, Judy and Darrell Ainscough, Donna and Harold Bradley, and Patricia Nolley all of Washington; fourteen grandchildren; three step grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren; thirteen great great-grandchildren; and two step great great-grandchildren. Her husband, Bernard Mattingly, whom she married November 10, 1934, died on January 17, 1998. One grandson, Steven Todd Medlin; one great grandson, David Joseph Nolley; two sisters, Bertha Mallett and Mildred Brown; and five brothers, Jim Reed, Leon Reed, Frank Reed, Randall Reed, and Lester Reed are also deceased. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Father Leo Kiesel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a wake services at 4 p.m. at Ed Lee Mortuary. Condolences may be sent online at www.edleemortuary.com

"One of her great-grandchildren is my best friend, Amillia. Her great grandma died exactly 3 days after my brother Jacob. I felt so bad for her, it was both one of worst weeks ever.
