In loving memory of

Richard Telles
November 12, 1946 - August 17, 2020

Richard Telles of Kyle, Texas passed away on August 17, 2020 at the age of 73 due to complications of COVID-19. His life began on November 12, 1946 in Los Angeles, California, born to Faustino and Ydalesia Duran Telles. His father died when Richard was very young and his mother raised him and three siblings as a single mother. His mother worked seasonally between California and El Paso, Texas, providing a beautiful, loving and adventurous childhood for her children. Richard graduated from Ysleta High School in El Paso in 1965 and in September of that year joined the US Marine Corps, who trained him in aircraft and engine mechanics. His service included a tour in Vietnam, and he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Air Medal and Combat Air Crew Insignia.

Following his discharge from the Marines in 1969, Richard began a 40 year career with the Xerox Corporation, which led him to meet Brenda Sanchez, a fellow Xerox employee. Romance soon blossomed. They were married on July 17, 1992, her birthday, and celebrated 28 years together this year.

Richard loved the Lord and loved his family. He was passionate about reading the word of God and sharing the Good News with others. After retiring from Xerox in 2010, Richard and Brenda moved to Kyle to be closer to their extended family. The love he shared with Brenda was like no other love. Everyone who knew them knew how much they loved each other.

They had an annual tradition of recommitting their love on the anniversary of their wedding by renewing their wedding vows. Even though he was already in the hospital, this year was no different. They used a Zoom call to renew their vows, with family by her side and hospital staff at his side. Their love was beautiful, and they gave the example that against all odds Life and Love always win. They loved each other dearly and are a great example of what true love is.

Preceding him in death were his parents, along with his brother Michael Telles, his daughter Krystal Flores and granddaughter Sharon Castro. Richard is survived by his wife Brenda Telles, sons Tino Telles and wife Trish, Michael Telles and wife Alexia, Eric Guzman and wife Valerie, daughter Ronda Castro and son-in-law Joey Flores. PoPo is also survived by 11 grandchildren - Jeremy, Celina, Mariah, Mia, Jeremiah, Joshua, Jacob, Dominic, Matthew, Ezra and Raven; along with sisters Josie Juarez (Daniel) and Rosemarie Lopez (Santiago), sister in law Muriel Telles; plus, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Carol Ziebert and ALL the amazing Staff at Seton Main Covid unit. Dr. Ziebert, all the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for our Popo were beyond amazing. They had so much compassion and cared for him in a tender way. We will always be great full for the compassion and the way they cared for him and Everything they do everyday

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Christian Life Church, 4700 Westgate Blvd., Austin, TX 78745.

"I thank God for allowing Mr. Telles to be my bus driver at HaysCISD for the past 2 1/2 years. He made everyday a pleasure to come to work and we would share about God and what we were reading from our devotionals. He was a man who loved God and loved his wife Brenda so much. It was so evident to everyone how he treasured her. I will miss you Richard but I have no doubt that you are rejoicing in the presence of our God!"

"Richard, I know that you rejoice with our Lord, but for us here, we lost a jewel of a man. You were an amazing man and a wonderful example that displaced love, kindness, and patience. I love that you were never afraid to show your emotions?real men do cry. I love that you were never afraid to show your love for God?real men do love Jesus. I love that you would take the lead and gather us for devotionals and conversations about our God?real men do lead. Your presence made me feel safe, protected, loved, and uplifted?thank you, Richard. Love you always, Paula"
