Larry LeeSchaper, 78, of Fairmount, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Ft. Wayne, with his loving wife Linda by his side. Larry was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 13, 1938, the son of the late Gustav and Gertrud (Finke)Schaper. He was a graduate of Lane Tech-Chicago in 1956 and attended Daytona Beach Junior College and Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Larry married Linda L. Hobbs on September 21, 1968. Larry served in the Navy from 1956 through 1959. After serving in the Navy, Larry went to work atGreenelineManufacturing, Superior Metal Products, Wiley Metal, Chrysler Corp, and Teletype Corp. He was aferrieraround Grant County. He volunteered at Upper Wabash Interpreter Center as well as was a member of the NRA and Dana Campers on the Go. Larry was a former member of GWRRA and the Liberty Green Lions Club. Larry attended Harmony Christian Church in Elwood since 2000. Larry loved outdoor activities, fishing, hunting, and camping. A part of his heart belonged to Colorado where he helped with his friends cattle ranch.
He is survived by his wife LindaSchaper, Fairmount, IN; son Charles GustavSchaper, Marion, IN; and one grandsonLeeamGustavSchaper, Marion, IN.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, College Park Chapel, 4601 South Western Avenue in Marion where a visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, as well as an hour before the funeral service. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, February 18, at 12:00 pm with Pastor Ron Meyer officiating and with military honors. A private burial will follow at a later date.
