Upland: Nancy L. (Showalter) Gore, 75, died early Friday morning, March 11, 2016, in her home, surrounded by family. She was born in Upland, the daughter of the late Donal J. and C. Kay (Kistner) Showalter. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School with the class of 1958 and earned her Bachelors Degree from Taylor University. She also attended Ball State University for post-graduate studies. Nancy married James Gore on October 18, 1959, in Upland. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2008. Mrs. Gore, who had lived in Upland for most of her life, enjoyed being involved in her community. So much so, that she started the weekly SEG-Way Newspaper and managed it for several years. She was formerly employed at Taylor University as the Director of Testing in the Psychology Department and was a 3rd generation, life-long business owner in Upland. Nancy extended her community involvement by being an active member of the Upland Lions Club, Upland Seniors Group, Upland Area Historical Society, Upland Chamber of Commerce, and Our Town Upland. She also contributed heavily in the Helping Hand ministry in Upland, the Upland Area Greenways Project, and served as the Upland Labor Day Parade Chairman for many years. Survivors include two sons, Alan (Carla) Gore, Millersville, Maryland, Neal (Tamara) Gore, Indianapolis; a brother, Max (Arlene) Showalter, Cincinnati, Ohio; a niece, Amy (Derek) Jackson; five grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathan, Emile, Brian, and Cody. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dale "Jim" Showalter. Memorials may be made to Helping Hand c/o Upland Community Church, 439 W.
