"One Ting? :)"
Michael Mason Atkinson (Korporal), age 60, passed away unexpectedly after complications following a heart attack on July 29, 2015, 10:21 am, at Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital. Mike was born on March 27, 1955 at Marion Hospital in Marion, Indiana, and graduated from Bennett High School in 1973.
A friend to anyone who needed one, he spent his life in service to those in need: he held several positions in social work, was an active participant at Eastview Wesleyan Church, and was always eager to share his love of racing, his daughters, and Pepsi.
He is survived by his two lovely daughters, of whom he was extremely proud. His eldest, Tara Marie Atkinson, 29, is a published writer and a co-founder and director of a popular book festival. She lives in Seattle with her husband, Justin Duffus, an artist who was honored to have one of his paintings displayed in the Smithsonian. His youngest, Larissa Kay Atkinson, 27, is a Director of Ministries at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Chicago. She has also been a professor at Moody Bible Institute. Mike was proud of how well organized Larissa is. Larissas fiance, Any Bossemeyer, is an architect who sometimes builds his own furniture. Mike would likely want you all to know about the city plan that Andy worked on for Malaysia. Mike was looking forward to their wedding in September.
Survivors also include his mother, Dorothy Eileen Atkinson, and his siblings Mark Atkinson, Maurice Atkinson, Myron Atkinson, Daniel Korporal, and Debbie Shipley.
A public viewing will take place on Sunday, August 2, from 2 to 5 pm, with a funeral on Monday, August 3, at 11:30 am, both at Eastview Wesleyan Church, 414 N. 10th St., Gas City, Indiana. Burial will be at the Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana. Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, College Park Chapel, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, IN.
Flowers and donations to the family to help defray costs of the funeral can be sent to Eastview Wesleyan Church. Online condolences may be made at armeshuntfuneralhome.com.

"Over the past 6 months I spent a lot of time trying to "get you back." No matter what I did you always had a come back. I'll never forget you putting ice in my clothes & shoes. In turn, I threw Ice Water on you while you were taking a shower (and quickly darted back out). Two seconds later, you began to yell at me to dial 911 and began "acting" like you fell and were in pain. After helping you put the shower curtain back up you doust me with water. -- I'll get you back!"
"Michael was a wonderful person, I had gotten associated with him back when Myspace was popular. He had came over and listened to some of my music that I had sung. He kept me encouraged along the way...everytime I would chat with him on facebook. He would let me know that I needed to be singing. I had an opportunity to meet him in person at a concert for Rick Alan King in Greentown, IN. Very delightful in person as well. He had strong faith in the Lord, he suffered much on this earth , but his suffering has ended without a doubt. What a pleasure to have known him, looking forward to seeing him again in Heaven, I am sure he will be in the soundbooth :-).....God be with you all and just keep smiling and remembering all the wonderful times you had . Thoughts and prayers .......An old friend ...Marta Oberlander"

Love You Michael Mason Atkinson Prayers for all those greiving and celebrating his life. "

"I've only known you for a short while but it was enough time to see such a passionate person. You touched my heart in my ways than I can actually express. You, my friend, were awesome on Earth and I know you will shine in Heaven. Michael, you are greatly missed by so many. Save us all seats at the great Feast Table."
"I was totally shocked when I read that Mike had passed. I knew he had some problems with his heart earlier this year but though they had that fixed. Obviously they missed this then and in the preop exam. I know where Mike is, so I am not sad for him, but I am sad for the loss of a good friend. I am praying for his family and friends and know that all of our memories of Mike will keep him alive in our hearts. Rest in Peace my friend. I know Heaven just gained and we have lost the presence of a great guy. See you later!"
"Mike you will be missed Brother (in law). We had our share of fighting matches, and to look back on them now, I just have to giggle. You were definitely a card haha I love you and I look forward to seeing you again one day. To all the family ~ Especially Mikes kids, my heart breaks for each of you. Just know this, if there were one ting I knew without a doubt, it was how much he loved each of you. And how proud he was to call you his daughters and Brothers, but especially to say you Dorothy, was his MOM "

"I've been friends with Mike for a little over a year, although we never met in person, we were friends through Facebook. Sometimes he would be chatty....lol....to ruffle his feathers you just have to tell him PEPSI was awful...I'm truly sorry for your loss you're all in my Prayers.....Michelle"
"I believe I first meet my July 4th like 17 or 18 years ago when his brother, Mark moved to Macon, GA. Since then I have had the opportunity to experience life with the Atkinson/Korpral clan. The best part of knowing Mike was his humor. We have been fb book messaging lately. Sad to see my fb friend and brother to Maurice, Mark, Myron leave this world, but rejoice for he will have no more tears or pain."
