J. Garry Stevens, 61, of Fairmount, IN, died Saturday, July 25, 2015 at his home with his family by his side. Garry was kind and quiet and never want others to know what good deeds he did, he did them because it was what need to be done. He was active in the community by having served on the Fairmount Park board and was instrumental in getting the walkway path put in at Playacres Park. He served on the youth baseball league board and was one of the founders of the youth basketball program at the old gym. He was on the Grant County Board of Realtors, a member of the Marion-Grant County Chamber of Commerce, the Mecca Club, Marion, IN and the Meshingomesia Golf Social Club, Marion, IN Garry enjoyed anything that involved water, especially boating. He enjoyed golfand campfires.

Garry was born March 24, 1954 at Marion, Indiana and was the son of the late Franklin Sr. and the late Audra (Powell) Stevens. He graduated from Marion High School class of 1972.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years Donna M. (Holloway) Stevens.

Two Sons: Scott (Jessica) Stevens and their daughter Addison May Sugar Sugar, Coatesville, IN Brent Stevens and his son Brenton Allen Bubb Aslinger, Fairmount, IN Two Sisters: Mary Lou (Charles) Fisher, Marion, IN Diana Clemons, Swayzee, IN Sister-in-law: Joyce Stevens, Ft. Wayne, IN, In-laws; Ron and Nancy Wilson, Jonesboro, IN, Bruce and Lisa Holloway, Marysville, TN, and Louanne Holloway, Elwood, IN

He was preceded in death by brother Franklin Stevens Jr. and half-brother: Richard A. Carper and Mother and Father-in-law; Marilyn and Gerald Holloway who were like parents to him.

Funeral service will be at Fairmount Chapel Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services at 10:00 AM Wednesday July 29, 2015 with Pastor Jeff Luedtke, Chaplain Henry Favorite, and Connie Gorrell officiating. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Farimount, IN Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 3-8 PM.

As per Garrys request all memorials are to be made to the funeral home to be distributed to five special organization that have helped the Stevens and Holloway Familys in the past.

"God has welcomed home one of the truly, great baseball coaches of all times. Garry was Alicia's Coach's Pitch, Coach for 2 years. With the help of Max Engle, Garry taught the fundamentals of baseball to a ragtag team. A few players knew how to play the game, but the majority had no idea at all.
