In loving memory of

Jack Ratliff
January 8, 1944 - November 28, 2014

Jack Ratliff also known as J.R. or Pamp age 70 had his final Thanksgiving meal with his immediate family presenton Thursday. On Friday, November 28th, he went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior.

Jack is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patty (Mason) Ratliff, two sons, Tony (Kathy) Ratliff, of Fishers, and Randy (Elizabeth) Ratliff, of Greenfield; two brothers Jim (Carol) and Rick (Sandy); step-sister, Roslyn (Bob) McCarty; step-brother, Russell (Virginia) Carter; and his seven grandchildren Ashley, Bryce, Chase, Dory, Blake, Brooke and Bailey.

Jack was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the military for a total of twenty-one years. He loved his country and the American flag. He felt one of his biggest accomplishments in life was servings his country in Desert Storm while his boys went to college. Jack retired from Indiana Bell and until recently, owned Home Calls. Jack loved living on the lake, fishing, playing cards with friends, an honest round of golf and spending time in Panama City Beach Florida.

Jack always liked being in control and taking charge, but he also said, God has a plan and he was okay with that. He knew the songs he wanted played at his funeral, the clothes he wanted to be buried in and the pictures to be included on his tombstone. He liked to do things his way and would always give you his honest opinion. Jack Ratliff was raised in Fairmount, and was the son of the late George James and the late Bonnie (Ballenger) Ratliff-Carter. He was a member at Morris Chapel Church and attended North Webster United Methodist Church. He belonged to Fairmount American Legion Post 313, the Masonic Lodge 635, Elkhart DAV and Huntington VFW Jack was a graduate of Fairmount High School Class of 1961.

Arrangements are being entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN 46928. Family and friends may visit the family at the Fairmount Chapel on Tuesday, December 2 from 4:00 8:00 p.m. A military walkthrough will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. and Masonic Services at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be at the Fairmount Chapel on Wednesday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m. with Byron Kaiser, Bob Daily, and Holly White officiating. Military and Committal Services will be immediately following at Park Cemetery, Fairmount.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Webster United Methodist Church, the Fairmount Veterans Memorial, or the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.ArmesHuntFuneralHome.com

"We will remember Jack as a hard worker that took great pride in maintaining a beautiful home and lawn.  Jack set the standard for the rest of his neighbors. Jack would ride by our home on his lawn mower  or utility car and  wave hello, sometimes  taking a break by stopping and having a little conversation with us about world events, investing, golf or which fertilizer to use to get the best results. One of our favorite replies to each other while working in our yards was to look up and yell across to each other Are we having any fun yet?  There is so much to miss and remember about Jack but we feel very fortunate that he was a part of our lives. We will miss his company, our card games, our visits and our many adventures together. We will miss you, Terry and Shirley Lamb "

"Patty and family, there are no words that I can say to make this pain go away! Just please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Jack was truly a wonderful man, and he will be missed by so many.  His smile, his heart, and his love for you was so great. When ever he looked at you, or talked about Tony, Randy and his grand children you could see his love and hear it in his voice. Like my dad, Jack's love for God, his family and his country was important to him.  I will always cherish the times and the memories that I spent with both of you (dancing, eating ice cream, the beach). May God wrap His loving arms around you and your family and give you comfort and peace.  Love the both of you always."
