Mary Jo (Ronk) Gibson, age 74, of Fairmount, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at University Nursing Center in Upland.
She was born on September 23, 1938 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Loren A. and Evelyn D. (Armstrong) Ronk. Mary Jo was agraduate of Shortridge High School and attended Hanover College.She received he Bachelor's Degree in Education from Ball State Teacher's College in 1960 and her Master's Degree from Ball State University in 1965.She married Phillip L. Gibson on August 30, 1959.He preceded her in death on August 31, 2002.
Mary Jo was an elementary teacher at Madison-Grant SchoolCorporation for 20 years her favorite being kindergarten.She loved teaching and crafts of all kinds, but most of all she loved being involved in her children and grandchildren's lives.Some of her other employment consisted of Activity Director at several nursing homes, Social service at Lifestream Services, Home Health Care Manager for Area 6 Council on Aging and the Fairmount Public Library.As a member of the Center Christian Church she was active with the Willing Workers.She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star,Bridge Club and was a Grant County 4-H Leader.
She is survived by;
One Daughter; Alice (Ty) Quinn, Jonesboro
Three Sons: Dale (Linda) Gibson of Fairmount
Joe (Carol) Gibson of Fairmount
Brian ( Leslie) Gibson of Summitville
Sister: Susan (George) Burke of Las Vegas, Nev.
Eight grandchildren:
Raymond, Erin and AdamGibson, all of Fairmount
Britney Gibson, Marion
Caitlin and Dalton Gibson, Summitville
Morgan and Tucker Quinn, Jonesboro
3 Great-Grandchildren;
Kylana, Zachary and Justin Cass
She was alsopreceded in death by a daughter-in-law Lueanna Gibson.
Arrangements are being handled by Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN.Funeral Service is Saturday, April 27,2013 10 AMwith Dr. Thomas Jones officiating.Burial is atPark Cemetery.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 4-8 PM
