Upland: Ruth Lee Puckett, 78, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2012, in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. She was born in Grant County, the daughter of the late Walter and Bernice (Hiatt) Phillips. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1952 and married Herb Puckett on February 1, 1953. He preceded her in death on November 24, 2010. Mrs. Puckett was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, bird watching, and spending time with family. She also served as Secretary to the Jefferson Township Trustee for many years. She attended Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, Marion. Survivors include a son, Steve (Rita) Puckett, Upland; three daughters, Terri (Chip) Long, Upland, Debra (Larry) Brown, Glen, Mississippi, and Sandy (Gary) Jackson, Gaston; a sister, Juanita (Don) Herring, Upland; eight grandchildren, Robert Brown, Hiedi (Long) Young, Eric Brown, Sara (Puckett) Pierce, Holly (Long) Farr, Jed Puckett, Chad Jackson, and Bryan Jackson; five great-grandchildren, Tucker Brown, Bryce Young, Makenzie Farr, Claire Young, and Kendall Farr. Memorials may be made to Oak Chapel United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1335 S. Jadden Road, Marion, Indiana, 46953. As you say, it's a good thing to keep in mind that nothing is written in stone on this planet, but on the other hand one soulhd not dwell too much on such thoughts. For me too it is a constant battle of the mind, but I guess that's how it has to be. Be sad and thoughtful when you feel like it, but also enjoy life whenever there's a chance.
