Norris R. White
December 12, 1922 - March 14, 2010

Matthews: Norris R. White, 87, passed away at 1:13 p.m. Sunday at the University Nursing Center, Upland. He was born in Matthews the son of the late Robert E. and Mary Effie (Stillman) White. Norris was a 1940 graduate of Matthews High School. He married Edna Long on June 6, 1942 in Marion. She preceded him in death January 19, 2002. Mr. White served in the U. S. Army during WW II. During his work career he had been in production with various companies including, Farnsworth Radio, Westinghouse and Tuttle Cabinet Factory. Prior to his retirement he was honored for over 50 years with the Matthews Volunteer Fire Dept. He is survived by two sons, Daniel (Sue) White, and Norman (Sue) White, all of Matthews; four grandchildren: David (Diana) White, Tammie (Steve) McCoy, Donald (Adrian) White, Jamie White; two step grandchildren: Monica (Bob) Leffingwell, Robert (Jennifer) Moore; seven great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Enoch, Marlin; sisters: Velmeta, Donna, and Susie. Memorials may be made to the Matthews Volunteer Fire Department, POB 303, Matthews, IN 46957.
