Gladys I. (Helms) Richards, age 96, of Fairmount, IN, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at her Residence in Fairmount, IN.

Gladys was born in Fowlerton , Indiana to the late Orrie Dale Helms and the late Addie Electa Richards Helms. She graduated from Munice Central High School in 1931 Whe married William E. Richards on February 14, 1947. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1992 .

Gladys was an accountant at Munice Chevrolet during the 1940's and was later the assistant Post Master in Fowlerton for 8 years. Glady's was firm in her faith and a life member of the Fowlerton Untied Methodist Church where she taught both adult and elementary Sunday School classes for 30 years. She was a member of Fowlerton U.M. Women, and attended the Fairmount United Methodist Senior Group. She hosted the Thursday Evening Bible Study in her home for many years. She was a 25 year member of the Fowlerton Home Economics Group serving in all offices.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers John Helms and Harold Helms

Honorary pallbearers are; Jerry Helms, Larry Helms; Bobby Helms, Johny Helms, Errol Parsons, Ted Richards, Donn Richards II and Eric Parsons.


Arrangements are being handled by Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN Visitation is Sunday, January 24 from 2-4 PM with the Funeral immediately following at 4 PM with Pastors Ella Nickles and Glen Davis officiating. Interment will be at Garden of Memories, Muncie, IN Monday, January 25 at 10AM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fowlerton United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
