Matthews: Roberta L. Andrew, 72, passed away Friday at 5:18 p.m. at Parkview Nursing Center, Muncie. She was born in Matthews, the daughter of the late Herman and Irene (Trout) Fights. She was a 1955 graduate of Jefferson Township High School. Prior to her disability care in Muncie she had been a life long resident of Matthews. Her husband, Gary Andrew, preceded her in death January 28, 1993. Roberta had been employed with the Gaston Star Bank for several years and prior to that with "Three Sisters" and Wells Department Store, both in Muncie. Survivors include a brother, Robert (Betty) Fights, Jamestown, KY; four sisters, Joyce (Jack) Miller, Gas City, Martha (Merv) Jenkins, Noblesville, Mary (Ernie) Harvey, Peru, Violet Fights, Noblesville; several nieces and nephews. "After high school, I worked one summer at Central Bank & Trust in Gaston. Roberta was the trainer. In those days every transaction had to be hand written and at 2:00 every day the drawer had to balance. She never failed. I learned a lot from her and hold many memories from those days."
