"Though I never knew his name before his death, I saw Jackie frequently where I worked at the McClure store in Upland. He was always soft spoken and very polite. I will forever miss seeing him and his kind face. He was the kind of fellow that makes me wish I had gotten to know some people better. God Bless him."

Upland: Jackie L. Williams, 71, died unexpectedly Wednesday night following an explosion at home. He was born in Wabash, the son of the late Earl and Fayma (Meeks) Williams. Mr. Williams attended Marion Schools and lived in the Upland area most of his life. After 21 years as a production worker at Pierce Company, he retired in 2001. He enjoyed gardening and carpentry work. Survivors include siblings: Paul (Dixie) Williams, Marion, David (Ethel) Williams, Upland, Alice Fosnough, Marion, Mary (Don) Walz, Upland, Nancy Rogers, Upland, Janice (Michael) Hughes, Upland, Beverly Picco, Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
