Vera I. Scott
September 19, 1914 - June 7, 2009

Vera I. Scott, 94, passed away at Blackford Community Hospital at 4:42 a.m. Sunday. She was born in Jonesboro the daughter of the late Clarence and Lula (Ice) Jarvis. She was a 1932 graduate of Marion High School. Mrs. Scott loved children as evidenced by operating a foster home in Upland for over 30 years. She had been employed with Anaconda Wire, Vickery Laundry and Atlas Foundry. Mrs. Scott was a devout Christian, loved the Lord her entire life. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years. She was active in the church,and devoted to prayer as an alter worker. She formerly attended Nelson St. Wesleyan and Eighth St. Wesleyan Churches. She was a member of the Jefferson Christian Church, Upland. Survivors include a son, Marion Scott, Marion; Foster children; Stephen Doug Cummings, KY, Fay Sharp, Marion, Diana LaRosa, Indianapolis; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Orie Scott, Carolyn Scott, and Sylvester Jarvis. Memorials may be made to the Jefferson Christian Church. Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
