George James Reilly
July 10, 1927 - January 27, 2019

George Reilly Sr of Taunton and Cataumet MA passed away peacefully on Jan 27,2019. He was born in Taunton 91 years ago to Alice (Maxwell) and James Reilly. He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Miriam (McGuire) married almost 50 years , his son Lt Michael T Reilly USMC, his brother Joseph and his sister Carolyn Moulding. He will be greatly missed by his sons George Jr and his wife Jamie of Cataumet, MA, William and his wife Annemarie of Fairhaven, MA, his daughter Kathy McNamara and her husband Ted of Taunton, MA. George also leaves behind grandsons JP Reilly and his wife Sarah of Hutto, Tx and

Jake McNamara of Taunton, MA and many nieces, nephews and friends.



George served in the US Navys SeaBees in the 1940s and when stationed stateside he was at Quonset Point, RI and Oxnard, CA, when overseas, he was in Okinawa Japan and witnessed the invasion of Japan. He also worked on the railroad as an electrician and for the Bay State Gas Company in Brockton, MA as a sales representative. George enjoyed building and renovating his homes over the years. He enjoyed playing Keno, watching the Patriots, Red Sox and old time movies. He had a passion and talent for model ship building and tried like heck to paint landscapes with oils. When at the cape, he enjoyed shell-fishing and cooking and eating anything he raked in.



Funeral Services willbegin from the Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay St. Taunton MA on Friday, February 1st 2019 at 10AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held In Saint Andrew the Apostle Parish, 19 Kilmer Ave, Taunton MA at 11AM. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 1:30PM. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
