Mr. Laurent J. Desrosiers, of Taunton, died Thursday, February 2 in the Golden Living Center Wedgemere, following a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Pauline (Pelletier) Arieta Desrosiers. A leap year twin, he was born 87 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Bruno N. and Rosalie (Couture) Desrosiers. He was educated in Taunton, having graduated for the former St. Jacques Grammar School, and completed high school at St. Laurent School in Canada. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as Tool Room Manager for Texas Instruments in Attleboro for many years. He was a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran of World War II, serving under the U.S. Coast Guard during the war. Larry was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Taunton Lodge of Elks # 150, a Past President of the Italian Naturalization Club, and was a Life Member of the Portuguese-American Civic Club. He loved vacationing in New Hampshire and was a great ballroom dancer. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, and he enjoyed playing golf. In addition to his wife, he leaves: 3 sons: Larry, Fred and Frank Desrosiers; 1 daughter: Gail Teixeira; 3 stepsons: Jimmy, Ricky and David Arieta; 1 stepdaughter: Paula Ladurantaye; 1 brother: Raymond Desrosiers; 4 sisters: Lea LaCroix, Lillian Perry, Rita Hadley, and Helen Marzelli; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Larry was also the stepfather of the late Danny Arieta, and the brother of the late Armand, William, Ernest, Louis, Roland and Leo Desrosiers, Cecile Roy, and his twin sister, Lorraine Galligan. A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be celebrated on Monday, February 6 in St. Jude the Apostle Church, 249 Whittenton Street, at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be private. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted.
