JoAnne Ferstl
November 20, 1938 - July 24, 2020

A Private funeral Mass for JoAnne Ferstl, 81, of Algona, will be held 10:30 AM Friday, July 31st at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. Burial will be in St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery. The funeral Mass and burial will be live streamed on Oakcrest Funeral Services' Facebook page. Her family will greet friends from 5 to 7 PM Thursday at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Wesley. Social distancing practices will be followed and the family request people to wear masks.

JoAnne was born November 20, 1938, in Smithland, daughter of Leroy and Pauline (Young) Pfeffer. She grew up in Wesley graduating from Wesley High School in 1956. She married Jerry J. Ferstl on May 26, 1956, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. Together they raised a family of five children.

JoAnne worked a combined 40 years at Britt Tech, Sears, Solbach's, K-Mart, and then at the Algona Public Library. She was wonderful cook and she loved spending time with her family attending all of her grandchildren's activities. She also enjoyed reading, flowers, ceramics, and painting hand towels. JoAnne and Jerry enjoyed wintering in Mesa, AZ for 13 years starting in 2003. She was member of St. Benedict Catholic Church being active in the C.D.of A. and was now a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley. She also was a member of her card club and enjoyed getting together on Friday afternoons.

JoAnne Ferstl died Friday, July 24, 2020 at her home in Algona. She was 81.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jerri L. Ferstl of Des Moines, Judy (Tom) Loebig of Wesley, Joyce (Chad) Harms of Clear Lake, Janet (Dick) Farrell of Des Moines, and John (Shari) Ferstl of Oakdale, MN; her 12 grandchildren, Jamie (Steve) Wilkens, Nikki (Steven) Grandgenett, Stephanie (Travis) Angell, Kyle Arey, Hillaree (George) Biddlecome, Harrison Farrell, Shelby Ferstl, Kelsie Ferstl, Colton and Colby Harms, and Kailey and Kasey King; and her 5 great-grandchildren, Abigail and Benson Angell, Breckin and Boyd Grandgenett, and Libbie Mae Biddlecome. She is also survived by a brother, John (Joan) Pfeffer of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jerry on April 14, 2016; an infant daughter, Mary; a grandson, Hollister Farrell; a great-grandson, George Jeremiah Biddlecome; a brother, Paul (Edith) Pfeffer; and a sister, Judy Laing.
