"Amber and family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Simon. Sending prayers for his wife, children, and extended family. "
Simon T. Henry, 43, of Burt, died Thursday at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2020 from 5 to 8 PM at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Algona. The family asks that social distancing practices be followed. Family graveside services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery in Algona.
Simon Thomas Henry was born August 30, 1976, in Fairmont, MN, son of Thomas and Ingrid (Teresko) Henry. Simon was raised on a farm west of Algona. He graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School in 1995. Following high school he continued to work on the family farm alongside his father. He was united in marriage to Angela Meyers on June 4, 2011, in Algona.
Together, Simon and Angela have two children, a son Thomas Simon Joseph Henry and a daughter, Waylynn Outlaw Marie Henry. Simon's love for his children was very powerful. He always said his greatest accomplishment was being their father. They were his pride and joy. The times he enjoyed most with his children was when he would give them horsey rides, play catch, play fight and singing together. Of course, he taught them how to do the duck walk like Angus and to love music!
Simon had a love for animals. He proudly raised cattle alongside his father. When he was young he was an active member in 4-H. He was very successful showing cattle and after he graduated from high school he helped his father sell home raised show calves to many families. Although cattle were his first love, a close second was his love for birds, he loved them all! As a young boy he raised homing pigeons, guineas, pheasants, and parakeets. As an adult he raised chickens, geese and turkeys. He also had a love for cats. One of Simon's closest friends gave him a little gray kitten. Although he "didn't want the kitten", he kept him and named him Turbo. Turbo lived for 20 years because of Simon's love. Simon had a love for antiques which he shared with his mother. He was also a true Iowa Hawkeye fan to the core.
Simon enjoyed being the life of the party. He had a comedian-like sense of humor, enjoyed karaoke, going out with friends and although he enjoyed his country music, he was a die-hard AC/DC rocker! His close friends knew him as the Ol Boy Rick James but they also knew him as the one they could count on anytime day or night when they needed him. He was a great listener!
He is survived by his wife Angela and their two children, Tommy and Waylynn of Burt; his parents; Tom and Ingrid Henry of Algona; four siblings Tina (Jason) Henry-Thill of Humboldt, Cinnamon (Channon) Mawdsley of Algona, Amber (David) Garman of Algona and Joe (Maria) Henry of Burt; his parents-in-law, Ron and Diane Meyers of Irvington; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his sister Ginger Henry, his maternal grandparents Virgil Finnestad and Ruta Widdel; and his paternal grandparents, Simon and Matilda Henry.

"Growing up we were always at the Henry?s house which we loved playing with Simon and Joey. Our memories of climbing and playing in the fort/ house swing set, running in the yard, helping with chores, going to cattle shows, running around the house and sliding down the stairs on rugs. I have so many fond memories of is growing up and even recently at our family Thanksgivings. We always loved to catch up, get our hugs and tell each other we love em.. and a see you later. I know Ginger was waiting with her huge, beautiful smile when you crossed the pearly gates.. I can just hear you both laughing ?... I miss you already Simon.. and I will see you later !! Keep an eye on your babies as they need to know ur still there.. even tho they can?t see you. I love you more than I can say..always and forever ur cousin, Heather"

It\'s hard to imagine life without him but I know he will live on in his children and through all of us! I can only imagine what he said when he crossed those pearly gates! I\'m praying for you all during this time and always! Simon will be missed more then he could ever imagine! I know Ginger and Turbo greeted him with loving arms! Giving him Turbo will forever be my greatest gift to him!"
"Henry Family I was truly blessed to spend a substantial portion of my youth with Simon. The laughs we shared while attending countless cattle shows and judging contests are among my favorite memories. Simon had the unique ability to add humor to any situation and was the master of pulling off a great prank ?. From an early age it was obvious that he had an elite talent at the art of fitting, grooming, and showing cattle. More importantly, he was always willing to share his tremendous talents and expertise with those with the same interest. Tom and Ingrid, take pride in the fact that your son had a profound impact on all of us who were fortunate to be part of his life. Tracy Studer "

"I was a year younger then Simon at BGHS. He ALWAYS made me laugh...his humor range somewhere between National Lampoons and Animal House. I?ve told the Wookie Suit story countless times...bringing laughter and joy to people he never even met. You will be greatly missed Simon. You had a heart of gold. In the last 2 years we reconnected via FB and the laughs returned. May the love you had for your beautiful wife and children live on through these stories. To Simon?s entire family: we lost a good one. I?m so very sorry.??"
