Virginia Fowler Hogue
January 2, 1938 - July 13, 2018

Virginia Irene Fowler Hogue was born January 2, 1938 in Davie County, daughter of the late Samuel and Willie M. Neely Fowler. She attended Davie County Schools, and was employed by Burlington Industries, where she worked as an instructor and supervisor. She retired from Burlington after more than thirty years of service. Virginia was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Cooleemee. Bingo was her hobby and she loved to cook. Known to her family as "Aunt Piggy," and also "Slim," she will be remembered most for the love she gave to her family and the community. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Shelia Morrison; and one sister, Selma Moseley. On Friday, July 13, 2018, she died in Forsyth Medical Center after an extended illness. Survivors include two sons, Walter (Janet) Hogue of Statesville and Merrell (Emily) Hogue of Cleveland; one daughter, Wanda (Joseph) Foster of Cooleemee; two step-daughters, Mary K. Ellis Bryson and Joyce Ann Neely; two brothers, James Fowler and Anslo Fowler, both of Cooleemee; one sister, Evelyn F. Patterson of Woodleaf; best friends Linda Barber and Glenora Westmoreland twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; a host of favorite nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special thanks to a granddaughter, Keisha Carter, for the love and care she gave her. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 21st at Victory Baptist Church in Cooleemee. Rev. Rodney Barker will officiate and Rev. James Rowdy will be the eulogist. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
