" LJ Steele, daughter Of The Late Mr. And M lit a candle in memory of Gracie Amos Rhynehardt "
Newton, NC God in His divine wisdom called home to rest one of His good and faithful servants, Gracie Amos Rhynehardt, who transitioned from this earthly life to her eternal resting place on Friday, June, 24, 2016 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation in Hickory, NC. She was the daughter of the late Sherman and Rosa Bell Hairston Amos. Gracie was born March 19, 1927 in Danbury, Va. She was married to Odell Rhynehardt, Sr. for seventy years. To this union two children were born, Odell Jr., and a baby girl who died as an infant. Gracie and her husband loved to farm, raising sugar cane and all kinds of vegetables. The Rhynehardts were well known for their molasses and sold them to people in many counties. Gracie loved to cook and was employed by several school cafeterias. Gracie became a member of the Church of Christ in 1941 and served as the preachers wife at the Glendale Street Church of Christ in Newton, NC for over forty years. Working closely with her husband, she helped to convert many souls to Christ. She was a mother figure to a lot of people, always ready to give a listening ear and sound advice to anyone with serious concerns. She encouraged almost everyone she came into contact with to obey the Gospel of Christ, stressing the urgency of doing it right away. Her favorite phrase was, what are you waiting for? In addition to her parents, the family members who preceded her in death include two brothers, Joe Pete Amos and Henry Amos; three sisters, Millie Rhynehardt, Nannie Sims, and Betty Amos. Those left to cherish the memory of her life are her husband, Odell Rhynehardt, Sr. of Newton, NC; one son, Odell Rhynehardt Jr., and wife Gwen of Advance, NC; three granddaughters, Roslyn Cheatham and husband Joe of Huntersville, NC, Katina Rhynehardt of Raleigh, NC, and Tamara Acevedo and husband Angel of Huntersville, NC; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Damon of Wintson Salem, NC; two sisters-in-laws; a host of nieces and nephews, and countless other relatives and friends. " To the Rhynehardt & Glenn Families, we extend our heartfelt sympathy during your time of sadness and grief. Sister Grace will be remembered not only as a sister in the Church of Christ but a friend to my mother, the late Bertha Dulin. Sister Grace would help my sisters, Juanita Fisher and Melissa Dulin drive my mother around whether it was for church, special occasions, or business. So, to her family and friends, Sister Grace will not be forgotten. She will be remembered for her kindness, happy memories and especially her love for the Lord where I knew her at The Redland Church of Christ. In the love of Christ Edward Sr, & Ovella Dulin Fortson "

" Everyone at the PACE @ Home knew Mrs. Gracie as a sweet lady who wanted more than anything to walk again and she gave her all trying to stay strong. We all know she has been made whole again and is walking in heaven. Very few can brag on all the years Mr. Odell and Mrs. Gracie shared - showing a love together and spreading God's love to others who you came in contact. Prayers to Mr. Odell and the family knowing you have fond memories that will remind you of Mrs. Gracie and help you get through one day at a time. Lovingly, Carolyn McDonald "
" Love and prayers to Odell and his family as they say good-bye to this precious soul. Though I did not know her for long, I was in awe of the love she and her husband had for each other as it was a true blessing from God. I shall miss her never-ending humor and her beautiful smile which is now shining brightly in Heaven. God Bless, Mary Bonnett "
