Ronald Joseph Woodruff, known as "Woodie," was born November 29, 1948 in Harlem, New York, son of the late Andrew Woodruff, Sr., and Sally Matthews Woodruff. He grew up in Davie County and graduated from Davie High School in 1968. "Woodie" retired three years ago from Bermuda Run Country Club, where he worked as a cook. On March 30, 2015 he died at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Woodruff, Jr., and Aaron Woodruff. He is survived by two sons, Maurice Woodruff of Salisbury, and Curtis (Shektia) Woodruff of Taylorsville; one daughter, Rhonda Glenn of Salisbury; his best friend, James (and wife Bert) Rose, with whom Woodie lived; two grandchildren, Mone' Woodruff and Shekiya Woodruff; other relatives and friends.
