Mr. Edward William Peebles of Advance, North Carolina was born December 19, 1913, son of the late Madison and Olar Clarborn Peebles. He was a faithful member of Mt. Sinai A.M.E. Zion Church, where he served as a member of the Trustee Board, a Class Leader, and a member of the Sunday School Department until his health declined. Mr. Peebles served three years in the United States Army and received the WWII Victory Medal as well as an Honorable Discharge. He retired from Burlington Industries and also the Davie County School System. He was also a member of the Corinthian Lodge #17 Prince Hall Masons. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Peebles and his second wife, Mary E. Peebles. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, James, Duff, Robert, and Richard; two sisters, Edith and Isabelle. He lived at Cedar Rock Assisted Living in Mocksville for one and a half years. On Wednesday, December 9, 2009 he died at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. Family members who will cherish his memory include one son, Rodgers Dale (Shirley) Peoples of Advance; two grandchildren, Tiffany of Asheville, NC and Corey of Advance; one great-grandchild, Zoey of Advance; two step-sons, Clifton (Virginia) Scott of Winston-Salem, and Bobby (Carolyn) Scott of Yadkinville; one brother, Joe Jasper, and one sister, Ruby M. Brown both of Advance; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and his extended family, the Stocktons (Jerry, Kae, & Alex) of Advance. The Peebles family extends thanks to relatives and friends for the kindness shown to them during this difficult time. May God bless each of you in a special way.
