Donald James Kahl
October 3, 1936 - July 18, 2020

Donald Kahl, 83, of Crescent, IA, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs, IA. Private graveside will be at the Mineola Cemetery in Mineola, IA with Pastor Luke Kuenzli officiating. Loess Hills Funeral Home in Glenwood is caring for Donald and his family.

Donald James Kahl son of Edward Gustav and Carrie Louise (Roenfeld) Kahl was born on October 3, 1936 in Council Bluffs, IA. He was baptized and confirmed at the St John Lutheran Church in Mineola. Don remained a life-long member of the church. He served 9 years in the National Guard Company A 168th Infantry.
Don married Frieda Goodman on May 1, 1960. They made their home on an acreage in rural Crescent, IA.

Don worked at Giant Manufacturing and retired from Marlor a division of Pride of the Farm after 26 years. Following cancer surgery in 1993 he worked part-time for the Darrah Co. in Council Bluffs.

Don enjoyed all outdoor activities and raised hogs while working full time. He enjoyed wooding and spending time in the garden. Don and Frieda displayed at all the area craft shows and farmer markets for many years.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ervin, Leonard, Robert, and Edward Jr.; sisters, Irene Kahl, Luetta Kay and Wilma Lorimor.

Don is survived by his wife of 60 years Frieda; brothers, Harold Kahl and his wife Lesta, sister-in-law, Barbara Kahl; many cousins, other relatives and a host of many friends.
