Neva Riley, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2008, from 12:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Olson - Powell Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the Congregational Church of Mt. Pleasant. Born January 13, 1919, in Uniontown, KS, Neva Mae was the daughter of Howard and Glessie Molsbee Wobbe. As an infant, she moved with her family to Southeast Iowa. The family moved back to Kansas for a brief period, but then returned to Iowa. Neva was a 1936 graduate from Pleasant Lawn High School. On January 9, 1937, she married George A. Riley in Hillsboro, IA. George preceded her in death on December 6, 1985. Neva was well known as an excellent cook, and used her talents as a cook at the Pleasant Lawn School for 34 years. She also enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling and gardening. Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Congregational Church in Mt. Pleasant. Survivors include, two daughters, Peggy (Clark) Hays of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Phyllis (Richard) McGohan of Mt. Pleasant, IA; two sons, Terry Riley of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and Ronald (Katie) Riley of Grinnell, IA; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Also surviving is a sister, Irene Kreiger of Mt. Pleasant, IA, and two nephews. Neva was preceded in death are her parents, her husband George Riley, and a son Howard Dean Riley in infancy.

"As a student of Pleasant Lawn Elementary, I'll always remember the delicious lunches that Mrs. Riley prepared for us. It wasn't until we grew older that we understood the amount of pride and hard work she put into those meals. Thanks for the wonderful memories!
